The pre-trial investigation established that since July 2017, a former prosecutor of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, during the state of war, switched sides and took the position of "investigator for particularly important cases of the department for investigating crimes against peace and security of mankind of the investigative department of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk People's Republic." He acted to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defense capability, state, economic, or information security of Ukraine, with the aim of preventing the control of Ukrainian authorities over the territory of the Donetsk region.

Subsequently, the former prosecutor, together with other so-called "investigators for particularly important cases of the investigative department of the General Prosecutor's Office of the DPR" and "deputy head of the department for supervision of the implementation of legislation in the field of economy of the department for supervision of the implementation of legislation of the Donetsk People's Republic Prosecutor's Office," fabricated criminal cases against servicemen of the "Azov" and "Aidar" battalions, which they sent to the "Supreme Court of the DPR" for their illegal conviction to imprisonment.

In turn, a former judge of the Donetsk Regional Court of Appeal, having betrayed the oath of a judge, switched sides and took the position of "judge of the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic," ensuring the illegal prosecution of defenders of Ukraine in this quasi-case, leading to illegal punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 12 to 17 years.

Prosecutors of the General Inspection of the Office of the Prosecutor General have sent indictments to the court against the former prosecutor of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, the former judge of the Donetsk Regional Court of Appeal, and two citizens of Ukraine on charges of treason and aiding the activities of the terrorist organization "DPR" (part 1, 2 of Article 111, part 1 of Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

For their actions, they face imprisonment for a term of fifteen years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine with operational support from the Department of Operational Support for Investigating Military Criminal Offenses of the Main Operational Department of the State Bureau of Investigations.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
