Meeting of the Steering committee of EU Project "Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine" was held
On July, 8, 2016 in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine meeting of the Steering committee of EU Project "Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine" took place. Representatives of the main beneficiaries, including Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office took part in it.
The coordinator of the EU Project Dovidas Vitkauskas and chief expert Loïc Geran presented information on implementation of the program and main achievements of the project. In particular, the results of joint measures to the prosecution reform was summed up, among them – the recruitment process in the local prosecutor's office, training for new-appointed prosecutors as well as normative regulation of prosecutor's self-governance etc.
The representative of the Reforms Department Eugene Chernikov on behalf of the Prosecutor General’s Office and National Prosecution academy of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the excellent cooperation with the Project experts, Loïc Geran and Natalia Dryomina-Voloc in particular. The leading role of experts in providing assistance to the recruitment process in the local prosecutor's office, and further training of employees was mentioned.
However, international partners were informed about the preparation for a testing process in the local prosecutor's office and were invited for further cooperation in this field.
In addition, the representative of the Reforms Department announced the necessity of enhancing cooperation in the preparation of amendments to the legislation in part of the public prosecution in connection with the adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine (on justice)".
The principal agreement on the financial support of the recruitment process for positions in the local prosecutor's office was given by the leadership of the EU project "Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine".
At the same time, European partners emphasized the importance of development and approval of a permanent mechanism for selecting candidates for positions in the Prosecutor's Office.
