A Round Table on the issues of International Cooperation was held in Lviv
On December 19, 2018, the international Round Table within the framework of the project "Strengthening the capacity of the prosecutor's office in the field of international legal cooperation" was held in Lviv, being organized by the Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv Region, with the assistance of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Ukraine.
The event was attended by the representatives of the public prosecution bodies of the Republic of Poland, the Prosecutor General`s Office of Ukraine, the Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv Region, and the local prosecutor’s offices, as well as the representatives of the judicial authorities and the law enforcement agencies of the region.
During the Round Table, a number of topical issues of international cooperation were discussed, including inter alia combating transnational cybercrime and illegal conveyance of goods across the customs border. The representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine informed those present about the positive experience of the activities of joint investigation teams (JITs), as well as on the state of interaction with foreign partners with the use of opportunities offered by the Eurojust.
The meeting facilitated the establishment of direct working contacts between the Ukrainian prosecutors and their Polish colleagues, as well as identifying the ways to improve bilateral cooperation in providing legal assistance in criminal proceedings.
