A Round Table on the issues of International Cooperation was held in Chernivtsi
On November 21, 2018, the international Round Table on the subject of “Features of International Cooperation in a Criminal Proceeding” was held in Chernivtsi, being organized by the Department for International Legal Cooperation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Chernivtsi Region, with the assistance of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Ukraine.
The event was attended by the representatives of the public prosecution bodies of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the leadership of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Chernivtsi Region, and the local prosecutor’s offices, the professors of the National Academy of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, as well as the representatives of the judicial authorities and the law enforcement agencies of the region.
During the Round Table, a number of topical issues of international cooperation were discussed, including inter alia combating transnational cybercrime and illegal conveyance of goods across the customs border. The representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office informed those present about the positive experience of the activities of joint investigation teams (JITs), as well as on the state of interaction with foreign partners with the use of opportunities offered by the Eurojust.
In addition, the meeting facilitated the establishment of direct working contacts between the Ukrainian prosecutors and their Romanian and Moldovan colleagues, as well as identifying the ways to improve bilateral cooperation in providing legal assistance in criminal proceedings.
