Delegation of the Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine headed by Yurii Lutsenko continues the working visit to the People's Republic of China
On June 26, the delegation of the Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine held a meeting with Chairman of the Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China Zhou Qian.
During the meeting, Yurii Lutsenko drew the attention of the Chinese party to the significant progress of the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office in the fight against corruption, as well as the recovery of illegally obtained assets.
"We have achieved essential results in the field of asset recovery, we managed to carry out the largest confiscation in Europe over the past 10 years, namely the return to the state budget of Ukraine of embezzled Yanukovych's regime $ 1.5 billion," - informed Mr. Lutsenko.
In addition, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine mentioned about the process of judicial reform in Ukraine, the creation and functioning start of the Supreme Anticorruption Court and the High Court of Intellectual Property.
"The presence of a professional and independent judicial system is one of the main guarantees of the existence for rule-of-law state, and ensuring more effective measures on the inevitability of punishing corrupt officials is the task of the Supreme Anticorruption Court of Ukraine," – said Yurii Lutsenko.
At the same time, the parties discussed the further steps that must be taken to ensure the effective functioning of the newly created judicial authorities, the introduction of modern information systems in their work, etc.
The same day, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine held a working meeting with Chairman of the National Monitoring Commission of the People's Republic of China Yang Xiaodou.
The parties discussed the results of the combating high-level criminality and corruption, as well as establishing closer international cooperation in this field.
"The creation of a new anti-corruption body of China is an important element of the criminal justice reform, which is intended to strengthen the control of officials and their responsibility before the law," emphasized Mr. Lutsenko.
