Prosecutor General of Ukraine had a meeting with representatives of the Venice Commission
On September 7, 2017, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko met representatives of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) to discuss a number of draft laws.
The parties discussed in detail the problematic of introducing Supreme Anticorruption Court in the court system concrete provisions of the draft Law on Amendments to the Law of Ukraine on the Judiciary and the Status of Judges (regarding the introduction of the mandatory specialization of judges for corruption and corruption-related offenses).
Mr. Lutsenko noted that Ukraine highly appreciates the efforts of international institutions aimed at strengthening the legal system in the country.
The participants of the event emphasized that the existence of a professional and independent judicial system is one of the main guarantees of the constitutional state and the trust of society in court decisions, observing the principle of equality of all before the law.
