Ruslan Riaboshapka appointed Viktor Chumak as the Deputy Prosecutor General – Chief Military Prosecutor
Pursuant to Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Prosecution Service”, on September 11, 2019, the Prosecutor General Ruslan Riaboshapka signed an order on the appointment of Viktor Chumak as the Deputy Prosecutor General – Chief Military Prosecutor.
Earlier, on September 10, 2019, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed an approval of the candidacy of Viktor Chumak for the said post.
In 1995, Viktor Chumak graduated from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in Law.
Until 1999, he had worked at the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service. In 2000, he headed the Department for Legal Support of the State Committee for Protection of the State Border of Ukraine.
In 2004-2009, he worked as an expert, director of political analysis and security programmes, director of the International Centre for Policy Studies.
Viktor Chumak was the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 7th and 8th convocations.
Since 2012, he served as the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Combating Organized Crime and Corruption, and since 2014, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Prevention and Combating Corruption.
