Prosecutor General of Ukraine held a meeting with heads of law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and the Kingdom of the Netherlands
On December 11, 2017, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko and Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak met with their colleagues from the Kingdom of the Netherlands: Chief Prosecutor of the National Prosecutor’s Office Frederic Westerbeke and Head of the National Crime Squad of the Dutch National Police Wilbert Paulissen.
The event was organized to discuss the interim results of the plane crash investigation of the passenger airplane MH17 Malaysian Airlines, which took place on July 17, 2014, and to coordinate the efforts of the States Parties to the international joint investigation team aimed at bringing guilty persons to criminal responsibility.
“Bringing the shooting down case of the MH17 plane to its logical conclusion (a court sentence for all guilty persons) is not only a priority task for Ukraine and the states whose citizens have been victims of this terrible crime, but also a matter of honor for the law enforcement officers involved in the tragedy investigation,” said Yurii Lutsenko.
In addition, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine assured his foreign colleagues that recent changes to the criminal procedural law will not affect the course of the investigation of proceedings.
According to results of the meeting, participants agreed on further steps in the case and expressed gratitude to each other for the effective cooperation in investigation, which has been going on for more than three years.
