Prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding an employee of one of the forestry enterprises of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine".

According to the investigation, in June-July 2023, the forestry engineer improperly performed his duties: without checking the logging plan, the age of the trees, and the availability of permits, he approved the felling of 137 trees of valuable species, each over 90 years old.

According to experts' conclusions, the state suffered material damage of more than 1.1 million UAH.

The actions of the accused have been qualified under part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (official negligence that caused severe consequences). The sanction of the article provides for up to 5 years of imprisonment.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation. Operational support was provided by employees of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Kyiv region.
