Seizure of funds during the supply of fuel for border guards - three persons reported suspicion

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General, a former commander of one of the fuel depots of the State Border Guard Service, the chief accountant of the same unit, and the director of a private company have been notified of suspicion.

The investigation established that in March-April 2022, five contracts were concluded between the military unit and the private enterprise for the supply of fuel and lubricants worth over 16.6 million UAH.

Contrary to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (dated 02.03.2022 No. 178), the value of these contracts illegally included value-added tax in the amount of 1.5 million UAH, of which over 152 thousand UAH was reimbursed from the state budget.

In addition, during the supply of fuel to another military unit, the director of the company misappropriated over 258 thousand UAH. Subsequently, he compensated the state for the damages in full.

Depending on the actions committed by the suspects, their actions have been qualified under Part 4 of Article 425, Part 2 of Article 367, and Parts 4, 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Currently, at the request of the prosecution, a preventive measure has been chosen for the suspects.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support are being carried out by the employees of the State Bureau of Investigation.
