Under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the pre-trial investigation has been completed and an indictment has been sent to the High Anti-Corruption Court regarding former officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and representatives of a private company.

The officials of the Ministry of Defense are accused of being part of an organized group that, together with representatives of the LLC, entered into a state contract in August 2022 for the procurement of a wholesale batch of weapons - 100,000 mortar shells.

The funds provided for by the signed contract in the amount of 1.34 billion UAH were transferred in full. However, the contract itself was delayed by the supplier, and the necessary weapons never reached the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

The actions of the accused have been qualified under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – misappropriation of someone else's property in especially large amounts, committed by an organized group.

Materials regarding two other suspects have been separated into separate proceedings due to their search.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine with operational support from the Department for the Protection of National Statehood of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
