The pre-trial investigation into the former TV presenter who distributed videos denying Russian aggression and calling the war "his" has been completed
09.12.2025
The prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding a 35-year-old former television presenter of sanctioned channels. During the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he spread videos justifying the actions of the aggressor state through his own YouTube channel.
The defendant's channel had over 203 thousand subscribers. In 2023-2024, the materials disseminated convinced the audience that Russia "is not an aggressor," guests of the broadcasts transmitted pro-Russian narratives and referred to the war against Ukraine as "their own." This occurred despite the daily tragic consequences of Russian strikes on peaceful cities.
In January 2025, the man was notified of suspicion for disseminating materials that justify, recognize as lawful, and deny the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine (Part 2, Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation has now been completed. The indictment has been sent to the Kyiv-Sviatoshyn District Court of Kyiv.
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years with or without confiscation of property.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
