A resident of Sumy region has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property for treason and justifying the aggression of the Russian Federation (Part 2 of Article 111 and Part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court made this decision based on the public prosecution by the prosecutors of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors proved in court that the convicted individual is a native of Kursk region, but has lived in Sumy region for a long time and is a citizen of Ukraine. 

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he had been providing his friend, who serves in the border management of the FSB of the Russian Federation in Kursk region, with information about the positions of Ukrainian defenders, the number of their personnel, and defensive fortifications in the city of Sumy and Sumy district. Based on the coordinates provided by the agent, the enemy shelled the specified locations with artillery.

In June 2023, the man was detained by law enforcement officers. 

During a search of his home, mobile phones were found, which he used to transmit information to the FSB of the Russian Federation, a business card of the Russian consulate general, prohibited symbols in Ukraine, and a passport of a citizen of Russia.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy region.
