Three employees of the occupation police of the Kherson region were informed of the suspicion of interrogations and torture
24.12.2025
Under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, three employees of the newly created occupation police authority are charged with cruel treatment of the civilian population (part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Two of them are also suspected of voluntarily taking positions (part 7 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in the summer of 2022, two residents of the Kherson region collaborated with the occupation authorities and took positions as "driver of the logistics support group" and "assistant duty officer" in the newly created occupation police authority in the village of Chaplynka. Together with a third suspect—a native of the Donetsk region, who served as "head of the department"—they participated in illegal detentions, interrogations, and torture of civilians in the temporarily occupied territory.
It has been established that in October 2022, the "head of the department" arrived at the home of a couple in the village of Ivanivka, accompanied by armed Russian soldiers. Allegedly searching for weapons, he personally interrogated the homeowner, and after the refusal to provide the required information, he ordered them to be beaten.
The illegally detained couple was taken to the "police" station, where they were held for a week in different cells under exhausting, unsanitary conditions, without sufficient water and food, hygiene products, or medical assistance. During daily interrogations, the man was beaten.
A special pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region.
Note: According to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
