Will judge the participants of three organized drugs that provided psychotropes of the regions of Ukraine

Under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, indictments have been sent to court against 11 participants of three interregional drug groups.

They are charged with participation in a criminal organization, illegal production, acquisition, storage, transportation, and mailing for the purpose of selling psychotropic substances and precursors, as well as organizing and maintaining places for the illegal production of psychotropic substances (parts 2, 3 of Article 307, parts 1, 3 of Article 311, part 2 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction for the most serious article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to twelve years with confiscation of property.

The investigation established that the organized groups operated in the territories of Zhytomyr and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The criminals organized a drug business for the production and sale of the particularly dangerous psychotropic substance alpha-PVP throughout the country.

In October of last year, under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, law enforcement officers dismantled a network of interregional drug groups that had established a scheme for the production and sale of psychotropic substances alpha-PVP and amphetamine.

The drug group, with a clear hierarchical structure, was organized by residents of Zhytomyr and Kryvyi Rih. Some members of the criminal groups were responsible for supplying precursors, from which others produced psychotropics in laboratory conditions and sold them in bulk to "customers" from various regions of the country. The "goods" were delivered to customers using the services of logistics companies, as well as through the placement of "drops." To sell the prohibited substances, the accomplices created and administered a number of Telegram channels, which they used to coordinate orders and communicate with "clients."

As a result of the special operation, the police dismantled 2 laboratories for the production of alpha-PVP, each with a capacity of 20 kg. The sale of the narcotic products produced in them brought the figures over 16 million hryvnias in illegal profit monthly.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department with operational support from the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the National Police, in cooperation with employees of the Drug Crime Control Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zhytomyr region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
