The Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office has sent an indictment to the court regarding the organizer and accomplice of a scheme to illegally acquire 2 hectares of land in the resort area of Dragobrat. Law enforcement has imposed a freeze on the land plots to protect them from further resale schemes.

The investigation established that at the beginning of 2023, a 46-year-old man developed a scheme for the illegal appropriation of land in Dragobrat. He forged a state act and technical documentation using data from a 49-year-old accomplice. Based on these documents, one of the accused registered the lands in the state register, illegally acquiring plots worth over 12.5 million UAH, which belonged to the community of the town of Yasinya. Within the investigation, it was confirmed that the Yasinya village council did not issue a decision on the allocation of the lands.

Depending on the actions committed, the defendants are charged with organization and complicity in fraud on a particularly large scale, organization of forgery of an official document and its use (Part 3, 5 of Article 27 - Part 4 of Article 190, Part 3, 5 of Article 27 - Part 3, 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Along with the indictment, a civil lawsuit has been sent to the court to annul the state registration of ownership rights to the specified land plot and return it to the lawful owner. 

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office and with operational support from the Criminal Investigation Department of the police.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
