Specialized Prosecutor's Offices in the Field of Defense take measures to bring guilty persons to justice for abuses during the calculation and payment of state-guaranteed financial support to military personnel. This category of cases is one of the main priorities of the activities of specialized prosecutors who coordinate the work of law enforcement agencies, carry out procedural management of pre-trial investigations in such categories of cases.

Only in the last day, 23 persons were notified of suspicion in 20 criminal proceedings on the facts of violations during the accrual and payment of financial support to military personnel, of which 7 persons were detained. Among those involved in the cases: two deputy commanders of a military unit, a company commander, the chief accountant of a military unit, etc.

The amount of damages caused to the state in the specified criminal proceedings is more than 34 million UAH, of which more than 25 million UAH are funds that were illegally accrued and paid as «combat». In fact, the persons who received these funds were not at the front line.

For example, under the procedural supervision of the Bila Tserkva Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Field of Defense, the former commander of a military formation, who did not ensure proper control over the legality of paying subordinates additional rewards for participating in repelling armed aggression, as a result of which they were unjustifiably accrued funds in the total amount of more than 15 million UAH, had been brought to justice under Part 4 of Art. 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Also, under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Field of Defense, an organized group was exposed, which included an official of the financial and economic department of the military unit, as well as officers and sergeants of the structural unit. The suspects unjustifiably accrued themselves with cash payments of more than 5 million UAH.

The above-mentioned persons have been notified of suspicion under part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Motions for the imposition of preventive measures are being prepared. For committing unlawful acts, the perpetrators face from 7 to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

In addition, the pre-trial investigation in 7 criminal proceedings against 7 persons on the facts of abuses with budget funds has been completed. Indictments were sent to trial.

As noted by the prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Field of Defense, «ensuring legality in the field of defense and bringing guilty persons who illegally dispose of budget funds to justice increases the trust of military personnel in state institutions».
