The systematic activity of the Prosecutor's Office continues: new facts of crimes in the budget sphere in Volyn have been exposed

Systematic activity of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Volyn Regional and District Prosecutor's Offices to expose corruption schemes and crimes against the environment in Volyn continues. These are already the second implementations in the region in recent times.

According to the results of pre-trial investigations, ten officials of government and local governments, heads of state and private enterprises were notified of suspicion.

Violations in the sphere of environment.

The business entity emitted excessive pollutants during charcoal production without any permit. This caused environmental damage of over UAH 1.7 million.

Embezzlement and misappropriation of funds.

• The head of procurement of «Volynskyy oblavtodor» SE along with the director of a private enterprise embezzled more than UAH 1.3 million on the payment of crushed stone and transportation, which were not actually carried out.

• Officials of the Rudensky psychoneurological boarding school embezzled more than UAH 370,000 allocated for the needs of the institution's residents.

• The deputy director of a private enterprise, inflating the cost of works during the repair of the X-ray office in Lyuboml, embezzled more than UAH 280,000.

• The director of a school in the Kamin'-Kashyrs'kyi district misappropriated UAH 410,000 for the procurement of a set of «Lasertag».

Abuse of official position.

• An official of the Volyn Regional State Administration bought grain at inflated prices, causing losses to the state of more than UAH 4.8 million.

• Officials of the State Geocadastre illegally transferred a plot of land within the «Hnidavske boloto» reserve to private ownership, which caused more than UAH 600,000 in damage.

• The village head of Horodyshche unjustifiably signed 8 additional agreements for the supply of electricity, inflicting more than UAH 200,000 on the budget.

Official negligence.

Due to improper performance of duties by the head of the department of the Manevytchi Settlement Council, more than UAH 150,000 was spent on the procurement of fuel.

In general, budget losses in these criminal proceedings reach about UAH 10 million.

Prosecutors are currently preparing a motion to the court to take preventive measures and suspend the suspects from their positions.

The investigation is carried out under the procedural supervision of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Lutsk, Kovel and Kamin-Kashirsky District Prosecutor's Offices in interaction with the Main Department of National Police, Security Service of Ukraine Department, Economic Security Bureau, State Bureau of Investigation and Strategic Investigations Department in the Volyn Region.
