Prosecutors of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court against the forest master of one of the forestry units of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" for exceeding official powers and illegal logging of trees in the territory of the nature reserve fund, which caused severe consequences (Part 3 of Article 365, Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the forest master approved illegal logging of trees in the territory of the national natural park "Hutsulshchyna".

From February to December 2022, more than 220 trees of various species were cut down in the forestry entrusted to his protection. The timber was loaded onto trucks and transported without any permits.

As a result of the illegal activities, damage to state interests amounted to over 25 million 201 thousand UAH.

To recover the specified funds in the interests of the state, prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
