Prosecutors of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding a city council deputy of Dnipro, the director and deputy of a municipal enterprise, as well as 4 participants of an organized group. 

The pre-trial investigation established that the Dnipro city council deputy developed a scheme for embezzling budget funds during the installation of children's and sports playgrounds in the city. 

He involved the director of the municipal enterprise of the city council, his deputy, and business entities in the illegal activities.

During 2023-2024, as a result of the tender procedure, the accused entered into a number of contracts and, during the execution of the works, provided false information regarding their volumes and artificially inflated the cost of materials. 

Subsequently, budget funds were systematically transferred to the accounts of controlled companies, which the accused distributed among themselves. 

As a result of the illegal actions of the accomplices, the local budget suffered losses of nearly 7.5 million hryvnias. 

The actions of the accused have been qualified under Part 3 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 191, and Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The indictment has been sent to the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Dnipro for substantive consideration. 

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the police of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region, with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
