The head of the education, youth, and sports department of one of the village councils in the Romny district of the Sumy region has been notified of suspicion of abuse of office and forgery of documents (part 2 of article 364, part 1 of article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In 2021, the official entered into a contract with a limited liability company for the capital repair of a sports area, including the installation of outdoor exercise equipment and workout elements on the territory of one of the educational institutions in Romny.

Despite the fact that after the completion of the repairs, the director of the company submitted knowingly false information in the official documentation regarding the volume of work performed and the cost of materials used, the head of the department signed it.

According to the expert conclusion, as a result of the abuse of office by the official, the director of the company misappropriated budget funds amounting to 1 million 983 thousand UAH.

Currently, an indictment against the director of the limited liability company has been sent to court for the misappropriation of budget funds in particularly large amounts (part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Romny district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation in the Sumy region under the procedural guidance of the Sumy regional prosecutor's office in cooperation with the Romny district prosecutor's office.
