The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office has approved and sent to court an indictment against the head of one of the departments of the state institution "Infrastructure of Sumy Region," whose negligence led to losses for the state amounting to 2.4 million UAH.

According to the investigation, in 2021, a contract was concluded between the mentioned state institution and a limited liability company for the repair of a bridge crossing on one of the highways in the region. 

Subsequently, the accused did not verify the acceptance act of the completed construction works for compliance with the norms of budget pricing and project-estimate documentation. As a result, the contractor purchased a metal corrugated pipe at significantly inflated prices. Consequently, the state incurred losses of 2 million 361 thousand UAH. 

The actions of the accused were qualified as improper performance of official duties by a public official due to a negligent attitude towards them, which caused severe consequences (part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation was completed by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy Region in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy Region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.
