Over 60,000 tons of sand stolen from "Ukrzaliznytsia" - members of an organized group are on trial in Volyn

The head of one of the quarries in Volyn and five of his accomplices, including the deputy head and the accountant, caused JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" losses of nearly 6 million hryvnias. They established a scheme for selling sand at reduced prices, not reflecting cash transactions of sales and purchases in the company's accounting records.
The accomplices also embezzled fuel by inflating its expenses in the reports for special machinery, causing JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" losses of 770 thousand hryvnias.
From January to December 2024, the accused misappropriated more than 60 thousand tons of sand, valued at over 5 million hryvnias.
The actions of the accomplices are classified as the commission of misappropriation and embezzlement of property by an organized group through abuse of office, as well as forgery of official documents (part 5 of article 191, part 3 of article 28, part 1 of article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The prosecutors of Volyn have completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted the case to court.
To ensure compensation for the damages caused, a seizure has been imposed on the property of the accused valued at 5.3 million hryvnias.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Territorial Administration of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Volyn region with operational support from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
