Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, three participants of an organized criminal group have been notified of suspicion for the appropriation of property (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation has established that one of the suspects, who held the position of deputy head at one of the quarries of the "CUP" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," involved an employee of the loading section of this quarry, as well as an employee of a private firm, in illegal activities. 

The suspects were releasing gravel products outside of official accounting under the guise of supplies to a commercial enterprise. They used so-called "duplicate" delivery notes that were not reflected in the accounting documentation of the quarry. 

Subsequently, the products were sold to end consumers, and the funds received did not go to the "CUP" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" but were distributed among the participants of the scheme.

These individuals, acting as an organized group from January to May 2023, appropriated gravel products from the "CUP" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" amounting to over 2.3 million UAH.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Cherkasy region. The detection of criminal activity and operational support were provided by the Strategic Investigations Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Cherkasy region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
