Prosecutors of the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv have notified a 34-year-old plastic surgeon, the founder of one of the private clinics, of suspicion for improper performance of professional duties, which led to severe consequences for the patient.
It has been established that during a brow lift and rhinoplasty operation, the face of a 39-year-old woman was disfigured.
During the operation, the plastic surgeon damaged the temporal branch of the left facial nerve, resulting in reduced sensitivity and impaired facial expression on the left side of the patient's face.
For the services provided, the victim paid 7,200 euros.
The actions of the plastic surgeon have been classified under part 1 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as improper performance of a medical worker's professional duties due to negligent attitude towards them, which caused severe consequences for the patient.
The sanction of part 1 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for punishment in the form of deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for up to five years or imprisonment for two years.
The investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Pechersk Police Department of the National Police in Kyiv.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
