In early February 2025, a man was contacted via the messenger “Telegram” by a representative of the Russian special services who offered him cooperation for monetary reward. The man agreed to carry out tasks for the enemy aimed at assisting the aggressor state in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine. 

For several months, the accused collected and transmitted information about the locations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and military equipment in the Chernihiv region. He also gathered intelligence on the locations of border service personnel, the number of staff, and the locations of checkpoints.

He received money in a cryptocurrency wallet.

During a search of the man's residence, a mobile phone was found and seized, containing evidence of communication with the occupiers.

Based on the public prosecution by the prosecutors of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of the Chernihiv district was found guilty of treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).  He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. 

Until the sentence takes legal effect, the man will remain in custody.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region with operational support from the counterintelligence of the SBU.
