The Prosecutor General's Office defended a collaborator from Kherson region in the Supreme Court
16.08.2025
With the participation of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Supreme Court confirmed the sentence of a resident of Kherson region for engaging in collaborationist activities (Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced in absentia to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold positions for a period of 15 years.
Prosecutors in courts of all instances proved that a citizen of Ukraine voluntarily took the position of the so-called head of the military-civil administration of the Chulakivska rural territorial community in the Skadovsk district of Kherson region since March 2022. While in this position, the collaborator recruited personnel and made appointments in the illegally created authority and educational institutions in the occupied territory of Kherson region, facilitated the circulation and conduct of transactions in the currency of the aggressor state, and took measures to promote and support the decisions and actions of the Russian Federation.
The Cassation Criminal Court as part of the Supreme Court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments regarding the validity of the qualification of the convicted person's actions and that the mentioned punishment is a fair measure of coercion.
The criminal proceedings were considered in the manner of special judicial proceedings in the absence of the accused (in absentia).
