Prosecutors of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, have reported suspicions against 20 individuals, including heads of communal enterprises, educational and medical institutions, local government officials, and a deputy. The amount of damages caused is over 260 million hryvnias.

Embezzlement.

– The director of the Cherkasy City Social Services Center purchased food packages for internally displaced persons at inflated prices. The amount of damages is 3.4 million UAH.

– The former director of the Department of Social Policy of the Cherkasy City Council purchased food products at inflated prices. Damages amount to 1.195 million UAH.

– The director of a contracting company, at the request of the local council, supplied coal of inadequate quality to educational institutions. Damages amount to 0.78 million UAH.

Negligence.

– The head of the land relations and ecology department of the Pishchanska Village Council, who is also a deputy of the Novodmytrivska Village Council, conducted incorrect calculations of the damage caused by the illegal occupation of land plots. Damages to the budget amount to 0.5 million UAH.

Environmental violations.

– The former director of the KP "Chyhyryn" of the Chyhyryn City Council illegally extracted drinking water. The total volume of extracted minerals is 567,247 cubic meters, with damages amounting to 0.535 million UAH.

Receiving unlawful benefits.

– The deputy dean of a state university faculty demanded a bribe for admission to the educational institution and received an unlawful benefit of 12,000 UAH.

Abuse of office.

– The former chairman of the company's board organized the unauthorized extraction of natural gas in the volume of 10.4 million cubic meters. Damages to the state amount to 251 million UAH.

– The former director of the KNP "Cherkasy City Polyclinic" purchased medical equipment - a mammography system - at inflated prices. The amount of damages is 2.524 million UAH.

Other.

– A group of 11 individuals illegally sold alcoholic beverages and tobacco products through trade points (small architectural forms), including those with counterfeit excise tax stamps.

– The director of a charitable organization sold 5 vehicles, imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid, to individuals for profit, valued at 0.8 million UAH.

The actions of the suspects have been qualified under Part 5 of Article 191, Part 2 of Article 369-2, Part 3 of Article 240, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 204, Part 2 of Article 199, Part 3 of Article 201-2, Part 1 of Article 366, Part 2 of Article 367, Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Requests for preventive measures, property seizures from the suspects, and their suspension from office have been prepared.

Pre-trial investigations in criminal proceedings are ongoing under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the Main Directorate of the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the State Bureau of Investigations.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
