Almost 5.8 million UAH was rolled up in three districts of the capital in three districts

Prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding five participants of an organized group, which included the general director of the municipal corporation "Kyivavtodor," the director and engineer of the contracting company, as well as the head and manager of another private road repair enterprise.

They will be tried for embezzling budget funds during road repairs in the Pechersk, Podilsk, and Shevchenkivsk districts of the capital.

The pre-trial investigation established that the members of the organized group inflated the cost of asphalt mixtures and asphalt laying works from January 2022 to April 2024. In this way, they embezzled nearly 5.8 million hryvnias, causing damage to the budget.

During the investigation, a seizure was placed on the property of the accused to ensure further compensation for the damage caused.

The indictment has been submitted to the court under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – embezzlement of someone else's property by abuse of office, committed repeatedly, in especially large amounts, and as part of an organized group.

The accused face a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv with operational support from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
