Prosecutors of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office have reported suspicion against one of the deputies of the head of the Department of Police Protection in the Ivano-Frankivsk region for committing fraud on a particularly large scale.
According to the investigation, the law enforcement officer unlawfully acquired funds from the state one-time monetary assistance paid to the father of a serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine, who died in April 2022 while performing a combat mission at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
The investigation established that the suspect had a familial relationship with the father of the deceased defender. Upon learning about the receipt of state assistance due to the death of his daughter, the official decided to seize these funds.
To gain the man's trust, the law enforcement officer suggested that the victim move to the Ivano-Frankivsk region, using his official position, arranged for him to work at the Department of Police Protection, and promised assistance with housing acquisition.
Subsequently, abusing the man's trust, in 2023 the suspect purchased an apartment in a new building with an area of over 100 sq. m at a cost of nearly 2.7 million UAH, convincing that the housing was being purchased for the father of the deceased serviceman.
At the same time, he registered the property rights to the real estate in the name of a close relative, and after the building was put into operation, he also registered the ownership rights in her name.
