Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, on December 2 of this year, the head of one of the village councils in the Lviv district and his accomplice were exposed.

According to the investigation, they demanded and received an unlawful benefit of 1 million UAH from an entrepreneur. For this amount, the head of the local self-government body, together with a trusted person, promised to provide the use of agricultural land without the conclusion of the necessary documents and without the adoption of the corresponding decision by the council session. This concerns plots with a total area of 135 hectares, located within the territorial community.

The unlawful benefit was received by the official and his accomplice at the agreed location – near the administrative building of the self-government body. Both were detained immediately after receiving the funds in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Currently, initial investigative and procedural actions are being conducted.

The issue of notifying them of suspicions and choosing preventive measures is being resolved.

They are charged with extortion and receiving an unlawful benefit by an official in a particularly large amount (Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Lviv region with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
