According to the investigation, the suspect intimidated his acquaintance by threatening to publish information on social media that could pose a threat to the victim's reputation. He valued his "silence" at 300,000 UAH. 

Being frightened, the victim agreed to the demand. 

After the agreed amount was handed over, he was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, the man was informed of the suspicion under Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – extortion with the threat of disclosing information that the victim wishes to keep confidential, committed under martial law.

He was chosen to be held in custody as a preventive measure.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
