In Cherkasy region, illegal production of kaolins was exposed by almost UAH 190 million

In the Zvenyhorod district of the Cherkasy region, illegal activities have been documented involving the director of a structural unit and a specialist from one of the local enterprises, who organized the illegal extraction of state-significant mineral resources — secondary kaolins.
According to the investigation, the enterprise had been extracting resources for a long time outside the boundaries of the special permit for subsoil use and the reserve calculation contour.
As a result of these actions, approximately 14,000 tons of kaolins were illegally extracted, causing damages to the state amounting to over 189 million UAH.
Both officials have been notified of suspicion for violating the rules of protection and use of subsoil (part 4 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, the pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Cherkasy region with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
