Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General, an attempt to illegally transport mixtures containing precious metals across the state border of Ukraine has been uncovered. Three individuals have been notified of suspicion in the completed attempt of smuggling (Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that an entrepreneur organized a scheme for the illegal collection, processing, and transportation abroad of catalysts containing platinum, palladium, rhodium, and other valuable metals. To do this, he purchased used parts, crushed them, and packaged them in construction bags.

He involved two other individuals in the transportation – a carrier and a driver who was supposed to deliver the goods across the state border.

At the customs post "Mukachevo," law enforcement officers detained the vehicle. During the search, 100 bags of crushed catalysts weighing over 2.2 tons were discovered. The value of the seized items is estimated at over 11 million UAH.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Main Investigative Department with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police.
