Under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, three servicemen of the Russian Federation have been notified of suspicion in the cruel treatment of civilians, committed by a group of individuals (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in April 2022, while in the temporarily occupied village of Shlyakhove in the Beryslav district, servicemen of the 34th Special Purpose Battalion of the 46th Separate Brigade of Operational Purpose of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation participated in the illegal detention and torture of local residents.

During the so-called filtration measures, the suspects detained a local resident and brought him to the seized building of the village council. There, he was brutally beaten for a long time while being interrogated using physical and psychological violence. In particular, they simulated execution by shooting near his temple, shot his leg, demanding information about possible assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After that, the victim was taken to an open area, forced to dig his own grave, and threatened with the murder of his family. Later, the man was brought back to his place of residence, where the abuse continued, but this time against his relatives - they interrogated the victim's son, using beatings and torture, including hitting him on the head with the butt of a rifle, trying to find out about his possible service and attitude towards the so-called "special military operation".

After searching the residence, the suspects left the scene.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region. Operational support is provided by the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kherson region, and the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region.
