From October to December 2023, one of the leaders of a state agricultural enterprise subordinate to the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine sold soybeans to a private company for over 5.9 thousand UAH per ton, at least twice below the market value.

The state enterprise justified this price by claiming that the product did not meet the standards.

However, the buyer managed to resell it for at least twice the price he paid to the state agricultural enterprise. This indicates a lack of real grounds for undervaluing the product. The NAAS lost over 5 million UAH in profit.

The indictment has been sent to court.

The official is charged under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – misappropriation of property through abuse of office.

The court is already considering another criminal proceeding against him under similar circumstances, but involving a different enterprise. The amount of misappropriation also exceeds 5 million UAH.

Procedural guidance in both proceedings was carried out by prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, while the pre-trial investigation was conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Chernivtsi region with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in Chernivtsi region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
