Two residents of Kryvyi Rih illegally held an entrepreneur in a basement for three days, tortured him with a soldering iron, and demanded 500,000 US dollars. Prosecutors of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to the court for the facts of illegal deprivation of liberty and extortion (Part 2 of Article 146, Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in 2025, the accused organized the kidnapping of their acquaintance - an entrepreneur from Kryvyi Rih.
Under the pretext of a meeting, they invited him to one of the cafes in the city. While one distracted the security of the establishment, the other led the victim to the VIP room. At that moment, accomplices in masks burst into the room, struck the man several times in the face, tied his hands with plastic ties, and, threatening him with a weapon, led him out through the back exit.
Subsequently, the victim was transported to a property in one of the villages of the Kryvorizhzhia district, where he was illegally held for three days. The man was beaten, tortured with a heated soldering iron, doused with boiling water, and demanded 500,000 US dollars for his release.
Later, the accused contacted the victim's wife, demanding that she transfer the specified amount of money and withdraw the police report about his disappearance.
Fearing exposure, they took the man to a field and left him there, threatening physical harm if he contacted law enforcement.
They were arrested in November 2025. For their actions, the accused face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
