Declaring false information for more than UAH 30 million — in Rivne Oblast, a village council official was notified of suspicion

Under the procedural guidance of the Rivne Regional Prosecutor's Office, a former deputy of the local self-government body of the Dubno district has been notified of suspicion for declaring false information (Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It has been established that when filling out the declarations for 2023 and 2024, the official, authorized to perform state or local self-government functions, provided false data regarding property worth over 30 million UAH.

In particular, the suspect, who is a private entrepreneur, did not indicate in the documents that he owns 6 real estate objects: a residential house, an administrative building, and 4 farm premises with a total area of 1,700 sq. m., as well as cargo and passenger vehicles and semi-trailers. Additionally, the man did not mention that he owns about 40 land plots with a total area of over 60 hectares.

Currently, the man has voluntarily resigned from his position as a deputy. 

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Rivne region with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.

The sanction of the article provides for a maximum punishment of imprisonment for up to 2 years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
