The Russian attack on Kyiv and the region claimed the lives of two civilians

On the night of January 5, 2026, Russian troops launched another attack on the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region. As a result of the enemy strikes, two civilians were killed, several others were injured, and significant damage to civilian infrastructure was recorded.

In Kyiv, a fire broke out on the second floor of a private medical clinic in the Obolon district due to a drone strike. A 30-year-old patient of the medical facility died. Three other people were injured. Two women, aged 97 and 77, were poisoned by combustion products and were hospitalized in other medical institutions. A 42-year-old woman received medical assistance on the spot.

Additionally, as a result of a massive nighttime attack on the Kyiv region, a man born in 1951 was killed in the Fastiv district. His body was discovered during the firefighting efforts in a private residential house.

Seven private residential houses, one apartment building, garages, cars, and production and storage facilities were damaged in the area. The city of Slavutych was also left without electricity due to the attack.

All relevant services are working at the sites of the incidents. Prosecutors, investigators from the National Police, and the Security Service of Ukraine are documenting the consequences of the armed aggression by the Russian Federation, and pre-trial investigations have been initiated regarding war crimes (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
