Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court against a lawyer and the head of a department of one of the city councils in the Lviv region for receiving illegal benefits for influencing the decision-making of persons authorized to perform state and local government functions, committed in conspiracy by a group of individuals (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

According to the investigation, in 2025, the lawyer provided legal assistance to her client in a case regarding the determination of the residence of his minor daughter. 

The girl was 11 years old and lived permanently with her father, as her mother had moved to Italy after the onset of the full-scale invasion. In 2023, the parents divorced, so the child's residence needed to be legally established. 

The lawyer promised her client that for a certain sum of money, she could help obtain the necessary documents and influence the judges so that the case would be considered in his favor. 

To this end, she involved the head of the state registration department of the local city council. The accomplice, using his work connections, was to ensure the issuance of an act of inspection of the living conditions of the applicant's minor daughter and a certificate stating that the man was raising the child alone — these documents were to be attached to the lawsuit in the father's interest. 

The lawyer, in turn, was to influence the judge to ensure that the decision was made in favor of her client. 

In total, the accused received $6,700 for their "services." In addition, the lawyer organized a fictitious change of residence registration for the client's ex-wife for $200 so that the case would be heard in the court preferred by the lawyer.

In July 2025, the illegal activities of the accomplices were halted.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with operational support from the SBU in the Lviv region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
